Underground Rehabilitation

Every year, Peterborough Utilities schedules underground power line rehabilitation in selected areas of the city. The typical scope of work is to install new underground ducts, cables and transformers. Once the new cables are installed the new transformers are installed.UG Rehabilitation

What should Homeowners & Businesses expect?

Area residents may be affected by temporary power outages as the new equipment is installed. Prior to construction, any residents that will be affected by the work will be notified by mail. Any residents affected by power outages will be notified by phone at least 24 hours in advance. Notices will be posted regularly via social media and annually on our website.

For affected homeowners, please note the following:

During the course of construction, we endeavour to keep any inconvenience to a minimum. We ask if you could please avoid parking automobiles on the street during construction.

Traffic detours, when necessary, will be in place during the construction periods with local/emergency traffic and garbage collection permitted.

The Peterborough Utilities' policy is to reinstate all roadways, boulevards, driveways and lawn areas that are disturbed by new construction work. Restoration will be completed promptly. To assist with the restoration, please water the replaced sod as needed.
