Peaksaver for your Small Business

 peaksaver Business
SHOW YOUR CUSTOMERS YOU MEAN BUSINESS WHEN IT COMES TO CONSERVATION

Do you have Central Air Conditioning at your Business?

As a peaksaver participant, an outside control unit will be professionally installed at your business, at no cost to you.  This will enable your central air conditioner to receive a signal that will automatically cycle it down for short periods of time during those days in the summer when the supply of electricity is low and the cost is at its peak.  Your air-conditioning remains on; the unit simply cycles down during peak times.  By raising your temperature by a few degrees during these periods, you can show your customers that your business is doing its part as a responsible member of the community.

Whether you rent or own your premises, it's simply good business to reduce the amount of electricity used during the highest-cost, peak times of the year.

We will give you a window cling to let your staff and customers know that you're doing your part.  We will also give you $25 just for joining the peaksaver small-business program.

Installation is fast and simple.

How does peaksaver work?

Once you are enrolled in peaksaver and the switch is installed at your premises, it can be remotely activated to slightly reduce your CAC’s electricity demand automatically. This won’t sacrifice your control or the comfort of your space. Activations would only occur:

  • on those occasional steamy summer days when the electricity system can be stretched to its limit and electricity consumption is at its highest. When activated, your CAC will continue to cool your business, however, in half-hour timeframes your CAC will be adjusted on and off. For the first fifteen minutes it will continue to produce cool air and for the second fifteen minutes, the fan continues to run to circulate the cool air in your place.
  • on weekdays (Monday through Friday) from May 1 to September 30.
  • for a maximum of ten activations during the summer and only for a total of four hours during any one activation.  peaksaver was activated only five times in each of 2008 and 2009
  • your system’s fan will continue to operate so that there is only a 1° or 2° change in temperature of your business
  • You can always opt out in advance of a specified date by contacting us
  • The devices and installation are free and we are here to help you should you have any questions

Most participants note that they do not even feel a change in the temperature of their business

peaksaver is designed to help Ontario meet its peak electricity needs - and your help is crucial.  How can you participate?
