Animal Announcements!

January 11, 2010
Back in November 2006, Riverview welcomed 'Lucius', a nine-month old male Dhole (Cuon alpinus) to live in our seasonal exhibit.  After spending just over two years here, Lucius moved to a new home at The Wilds in Ohio, USA.  In March 2009, Lucius was selected as part of a Population Management Plan (PMP) with the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) to pair with a female at the San Diego Wild Animal Park.  The San Diego Wild Animal Park is happy to announce that Lucius has just become a father to four healthy pups and is doing a great job of listening to his female companion by letting her care for the young.

Adopt-an-Animal

What is your favourite animal at the Riverview Park and Zoo?  Wallaby1
Help to support an animal friend of your choice through our Animal Adoption program.  Adoption fees will help contribute to animal care, nutrition, and enrichment for the animal that you adopt.

Adoptions last for a one-year term which can be renewed annually.  Special individualized adoption certificates are issued for each adoption and tax receipts are provided for fee amounts.  Adoption fees over $100.00 and over are announced for the duration of the year on the adoption sign located at the centre of the zoo.

Animal Adoptions make great gifts!
Consider making an adoption in someone else's name as a thoughtful birthday or holiday gift.
Adoptions are great ways for families, classes and community groups to get involved locally with wildlife conservation.
