Zoo Animal Healthcare Centre - COMING SOON!

WHAT WILL THE ZOO ANIMAL HEALTHCARE CENTRE PROVIDE?
The building will be about 1200 sq. ft., together with a 200 sq. ft. fenced area to allow the animals to be moved outdoors. Included will be a staff/ veterinarian shower and change room, two large animal holding pens, kennels for smaller animals, and a treatment room for medical and surgical procedures. The proposed Centre will provide a well-equipped animal treatment and quarantine facility that both supports high-quality animal healthcare and meets the requirements of the zookeepers and vets.

WHY IS A ZOO ANIMAL HEALTHCARE CENTRE NEEDED?
The Zoo’s continued accreditation with the Canadian Association of Zoos and Aquariums depends upon construction of this facility. This is because zoo animals require a special space to receive healthcare: medical treatment, surgical procedures, and quarantine facilities. Currently the Riverview Zoo staff have been forced to improvise in make-shift ways that cannot adequately meet these needs.
