Paying Your Bill

Payment Options

You can pay your Peterborough Utilities bill:

  • through your bank (online, telephone, bank machine or teller);
  • via pre-authorized payments arranged through us;
  • by cheque 
  • by cheque or money order at our payment drop boxes located at our Ashburnham Dr. location or at City Hall.
  • You can pay your bill with Mastercard or Visa online through Paymentus or by calling toll free at 1-866-207-9914 (Please note there is a convenience fee of 1.75% of your payment). You will require your Peterborough Utilities 6-digit account number, this is the first 6 digits of your Account-Location number, which can be located in the top right corner of your bill. 

Please note: Customer service and payment counters located at 1867 Ashburnham Drive are closed to Walk In customers.

Customer inquiries can be made over the phone at 705-748-6900 and online using the Customer Self-Service (CSS) Web Portal at

Online services include Application for Service as well as other account inquiries. Details on how to access your account information through the Customer Self Service Web Portal (including your Personal Identification Number) are included as a bill message on page 3 of your monthly invoice.

Invoices can be paid using pre-authorized payments, by mail, or through your Financial Institution (in person, online, ATM or telephone banking). When paying by cheque or money order, customers can also use the drop boxes located at 1867 Ashburnham Dr and City Hall. Always allow adequate processing time to avoid late payment charges.

Paying Your Bill Electronically

Many of our customers now pay their electricity bill via telephone or Internet banking. If you’ve been having trouble setting up such an account, here are two pointers that may help:

  • When you set up your account, enter only the first 6 digits of your account number.
  • If you can’t find Peterborough Utilities in the set-up list, it may be that your financial institution is calling us by a different name such as PUC or PUSI. This is confusing, but each financial institution creates their set-up differently. If you still can’t find us, please contact your financial institution.

Trouble Paying Your Bill On Time?

If you anticipate some difficulty in paying a bill, we encourage you to notify our Customer Service department promptly. Often payment arrangements can be agreed upon before bills become overdue. See our collection schedule.

Disconnection of service is sometimes necessary when satisfactory payment arrangements are not made or when we have not been notified about a payment problem.  Should you need extra time to pay your bill, you can contact our Customer Service Department to make a Pay Arrangement.  Arrangements for payment of the current bill must be made before the scheduled disconnect date.  Making a Pay Arrangement can stop overdue notices from occurring on your account which, adversely affect your credit history.
