Home Assistance Program for income-eligible households
The Home Assistance Program (HAP) can help you save money and improve your home comfort.

Appliances, lights and other household items that are old and out of date can make your electricity costs higher. The Home Assistance Program offers free energy-efficient upgrades and an in-home visit with an energy expert to help save you money and make your home more comfortable.

From new energy-efficient appliances, to LED bulbs, to draft proofing and insulation, the program offers significant savings and added comfort for free.

The Home Assistance Program is designed for low income individuals and families to help reduce energy costs and increase home comfort. To receive a free energy audit and become eligible under HAP, you must meet specific requirements. To find out if you qualify, call 1-855-591-0877 or visit saveONenergy.ca

Tenants need their building owner or manager to agree to replace equipment owned by them and to receive insulation or draft proofing. The building owner or manager must agree to not increase rent as a result of receiving any new equipment.

Ontario Electricity Support Program
If you are in a low income home you may qualify for a reduction on your electricity bill through the Ontario Electricity Support Program (OESP).

If you qualify, the OESP will reduce the cost of your household electricity by applying a monthly credit directly to your bill. The credit amount will depend on how many people live in your home and your combined household income.

Find out if you're eligible by visiting OntarioElectricitySupport.ca. If you have any questions or concerns, you may call 1-855-831-8151, Monday to Friday, from 8:00 am to 9:00 pm.

There is a new and improved process to submit your OESP application online. Visit the website at OntarioElectrictySupport.ca and click on “New Application” or “Renew Application. When you're finished you can submit your consent form electronically to make sure your application is processed as quickly as possible.

Ontario Native Welfare Administrators Association (ONWAA) is available to assist Indigenous communities with their applications. Indigenous households can contact ONWAA at 1-844-885-3157 or emailoesp@onwaa.com.
