Special Events

Peterborough Children's Water Festival

The Peterborough Children's Water Festival (PCWF) is a community event held at the Riverview Park and Zoo.  Through interactive activity centres students in grades 2 to 5 learn the importance of our most valuable resource - water.  Indirectly, PCWFLogo2011teachers, adults and high school volunteers are also exposed to messages of water protection and conservation for future generations and environmental health.

The festival revolves around a variety of stimulating and fun activities supported by the expertise of educators, water quality and quantity specialists, community volunteers, conservation groups, industry and government.

2018 marked the 17th annual PCWF.  Classes learned all about water and experienced our 35 water-themed activity centres. Since its inception, over 17,000 students have attended the festival.

The festival is organized and overseen by a dedicated Steering Committee that has adopted the "Children's Water Festival" model of fostering awareness of our youth.  It educates others about the importance of water and the need to ensure high quality water resources for future generations and the health of our environment.

2019 Riverview Park & Zoo Fun Run and Walk

      2018 Fun Run - 5k Start

The Fun Run is a great family-friendly event for runners and walkers, children and parents alike. The event will once again feature 5 km and 1 km races/walks. The courses will roam through the Zoo, past the animals, along the beautiful Otonabee River, and through the expansive parkland. This is a fantastic opportunity to get the whole family out for some physical activity, while enjoying a local Peterborough attraction!

Help Support Your Park and Zoo!

This year, proceeds from the Fun Run will be used to support a major renovation, expansion and upgrade of the indoor meerkat exhibit. Work on the project has already begun and you can help make it a great success.

Don't Miss Out! Early Bird registration ends at the end of the day on Tuesday April 30!
