Development Requirements

Water
Development agreement |
The Developer shall enter into an agreement to provide water infrastructure from the existing system to the proposed subdivision including necessary looping as well as applicable development and/or frontage charges. |
Design and construction |
The Developer shall design, supply and construct, at their own expense, all applicable water infrastructure to service the proposed subdivision in accordance with the Peterborough Utilities Commission’s applicable specifications and executed subdivision agreement. |
Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) requirements |
The proposed design must satisfy the design criteria set out in the Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) publication “Water Main Design Criteria for Future Alterations Authorized under a Drinking Water Permit”, and the design objectives contained within the MECP publication “Design Guidelines for Drinking Water Systems”. Design drawings shall be submitted for review along with an executed MECP Form 1 and associated review fee of $1,200.00 (tax included) payable to Peterborough Utilities Commission. |
Securities |
A performance security shall be posted by the Developer prior to construction. Performance security shall amount to 100% of the anticipated cost of the proposed water distribution system as determined by the Consultant and approved by PUC. |
Connection |
Upon construction, in strict conformity with approved plans, and the PUC Water Subdivision and Development Requirements, and the PUC Water Construction Specifications and Drawings, the system may be connected and placed into active service, at the sole discretion and under direct supervision of the PUC. |
Completion |
Once the PUC is fully satisfied with the system and after final inspection, the PUC shall assume full responsibility for the system and shall release the remaining performance securities to the Developer. |
